Steven Glen Kendrick was the son of Thomas Glen Kendrick and Lois Marie Child Kendrick. He had four brothers and five sisters. He was a student at South High School at the time of his death. His mother, who he was very close to preceded him in death.
I remember Steven most from my elementary school days. I believe we were both in the 6th grade; I had a crush on him and he had a crush on me. Once we'd moved on to junior high, we went to different schools. By the time we got to high school that silly grade school crush was far behind us and in high school I don't think we even said hello to each other.
It was many years ago that a friend told me he had died of an apparent suicide, though I can't confirm that. It was in 1971 that Steven left us and his passing seemed to occur so quietly, no bells and whistles or school announcements that I recall. We hadn't even graduated by then. His passing seemed to be as quiet as I remember him to be in high school. Who knows what was going on in his life at that time? What I'll never forget is his boyishly charming 6th grade smile that he'd shyly flash at me, and the rush that I got from that.
Steve passed while we were in High School - 1971 - shortly after he lost his parents in a car accident. I still have the scar above my left eye thanks to his boot. We became friends after that.

May his spirit be at peace.
