Mary Jocelyn Peery Johnson laid her tired body to rest and peacefully went to join her family, friends, and Father above on March 10th 2004 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter and friend and was an inspiration to all who came in contact with her. Jocelyn was born on May 1st, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James Keith and Mary Phyllis Peery. Growing up, she made many fond memories with her family and neighborhood friends, which she always cherished. She graduated from South High School and after several years of working she met a fellow classmate, Kevin Doyle Johnson, who was soon to become her eternal companion. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 9th, 1978. Kevin took great care of his companion through thick and thin, and they lived a happy life together. Despite the doctor's orders, Jocelyn was able to have a daughter whom she loved dearly and took exceptional care of. This was not an easy task, as Jocelyn experienced kidney failure when her daughter was very young. She never complained, however, and found joy in spending time with her family. She was blessed to live close to her dear mother and the two were great supports for each other. Jocelyn beat the odds and lived for 24 years on kidney dialysis. She never let her health stop her from living a full life and she carried others along through her example and her smile. She enjoyed camping and scrap booking and could tell a bag of popcorn was popping from a mile away. She served faithfully in many church callings including many years as a Relief Society teacher and always stayed close to her Father in Heaven. She was a true heroine. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Kevin Doyle Johnson, Her daughter Christina (Jason) King, her Mother Phyllis Peery, her brothers Jim (Karla) Peery, and Wendell (Sunny) Peery, a grandson Samuel King, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her Father James Keith Royer Peery. Funeral services will be held on Tues., March 16, 2004 at 11:00 am in the Cannon 4th Ward, 1301 South 1200 West. A viewing will be held on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 So. 200 E., Salt Lake City, and one hour before the funeral service at the Ward. Interment, Goshen City Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and patients at the Utah Dialysis Center, and to the staff at LDS Hospital for their loving care of Jocelyn. With all of you she found many dear friends. Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com
